Meet Daniel: Campus Director

Daniel Day is the Campus Director at our Indiana, PA campus. Learn more about Daniel and the impact he hopes to make for students and families.
Can you talk about your career trajectory and what led you to your role at our Indiana campus?
My background has always been rooted in education, beginning with an undergraduate degree in History Education and a master’s degree in Elementary Education. Although I spent much of my career serving as a Division II and high school football head coach, I began to feel the landscape shifting toward a more transactional environment. I wanted to use my strengths in leadership and culture-building in a more meaningful way, which ultimately led me to alternative education and the opportunity to impact youth in a significant and lasting manner.
What do you love most about working in alternative education?
What I love most is the opportunity to serve students who truly need guidance and support. Helping students see their own potential and imagine successful future versions of themselves is incredibly fulfilling. One of the most meaningful aspects is the ability to help break generational cycles, creating a positive ripple effect that can impact future generations. Above all, I value the connections we build and the ability to make students feel wanted and seen.
What makes our Indiana campus special?
The people. Our team lives out the mission to support the students we serve. It never feels like work when you come in every day knowing you’re making a difference, surrounded by individuals who share that same passion and dedication.
How would you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is consistent yet highly adaptable. I set firm expectations but always strive to meet students and staff where they are. Culture creation is one of my greatest passions. I love leading groups toward meaningful goals through structure, positivity, and clarity.
What is your vision for the Indiana campus and for partnering with districts and families?
I am excited to offer a unique and elevated alternative education experience in an area with limited options. I envision strong partnerships with districts, providing additional support and care for students who need it so districts can focus more fully on their broader populations. At River Rock, students will experience a hands-on, structured environment designed not just to manage behavior but to change outcomes.
What does success look like? What is your ultimate goal in your role?
Success begins with helping students return to their home districts equipped with new strategies to regulate behavior and succeed. It also means growing our first-year school into a program where the culture becomes a living, breathing force that guides everyone daily. Ultimately, success is becoming the premier choice for districts seeking a trusted place for their students to receive support outside the school district setting.
What is a fun fact about you not many people know?
As a dad, I never expected one of my favorite experiences would be playing video games with my kids, but it has provided countless memories and moments of joy and laughter as a father.
With a steady focus on leadership, accountability, and connection, Daniel is helping shape a campus environment where students can move forward with confidence.
