The River Rock Day Treatment Program provides comprehensive community-based services for delinquent and dependent male and female youth 11-18 years of age from Adams and York County School Districts.

Referrals

Referrals are accepted for the Day Treatment program from county juvenile probation, county children and youth and the local school districts.

Goal Planning

Comprehensive Treatment Plans will be developed and completed during the first 30 days for each youth. The Treatment Plan includes the goals, activities, and milestones, which the youth must accomplish in order to successfully complete the program.

Individual and Group Counseling Services

Staff members informally counsel students on a daily basis. Individual counseling focuses on service plan goals as well as the student's behavior and attitude within the program. A primary counselor is assigned for each student in the program.

Group counseling may have one of several formats. Whenever problems surface within the student group, group counseling may be used for probation identification and resolution. On-going groups will be conducted on a weekly basis with the counselor and student.

Competency Development

We employ the principles of the PA White Paper on Advancing Competency Development to help our students acquire the knowledge and skills that make it possible for them to become productive, connected and law abiding members of their communities.

• Pro-Social Skills
• Moral Reasoning Skills
• Work force Development Skills and Job Training
• Independent Living Skills

Family Involvement

Families are strongly encouraged to participate at River Rock Day Treatment.  It is an expectation that they attend the treatment planning development meetings. River Rock realizes that family involvement is critical to the success of the youth and the program and does everything in its power to include families in the process.

Education

The entire academic core curriculum classes at River Rock are taught by PA certified Special Education Teachers.  The program boasts a state of the art computer lab that utilizes the EdOptions Computerized Learning Network.  This program can be used for credit recovery, distance learning options or preparation for the PSSA or GED exams.

The major emphasis of the program is to prepare students academically and socially for a return to public schools.

Individual Educational Plans will be developed in conjunction with group and individual counseling to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Transition planning will be used to reintegrate youth back into the public school and community setting.  Co-op programming that utilizes community work experiences will be available to eligible students.

Recreation

Each student will participate in recreational activities on a daily basis, both during school and in the after-school program. The goals of the recreation program are to promote health and physical fitness; to teach cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship; to develop appropriate leisure time interests; and to learn to access social and recreational opportunities in the community.

Community Partnership

All River Rock Day Treatment students will have the opportunity to work within the community.  The intent of this program is to have students serve the community in a positive way as well as complete community service hours and restitution assigned by the court.  This program is contingent upon parent and referral agency consent.

River Rock staff will provide supervision and transportation for youth during this part of the program as necessary.
